Agenda: Addressing the Impact of Rapid Technological Advancements and the Role of Transnational Organized Crime in the Global Proliferation of New Psychoactive Substances (NPS)

Traffickers manipulate molecules in secret labs while algorithms predict profitable compounds, fueling a deadly NPS arms race. By June 2024, the UNODC reported NPS in over 101 countries, and new substances are emerging faster than regulators can keep up.

While outdated methods cannot keep up with the speed at which chemicals are developing, criminal syndicates use encrypted networks to ship lethal goods all over the world.
Respected delegates, here in the UNODC, we encourage you to improve international cooperation by enhancing laboratory capabilities worldwide, expediting analog scheduling, and tying forensic intelligence together across national boundaries.

The choice is simple: either stay bound by outdated frameworks or create novel solutions that protect our communities from this evolving threat.
